Hungary's recent extreme heatwave finally came to an end as thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong north-westerly winds swept across the country, bringing temperatures down by 8-10°C by Wednesday evening.

Unseasonably warm, summer-like conditions prevailed across Hungary, with the national average maximum temperature reaching 30.2 degrees Celsius. This figure stands more than 7 degrees above the typical seasonal average for this time of year.
