Most Hungarians Would Reduce VAT on Car Fuel
Most Hungarians say the government should keep gasoline prices low by reducing VAT rather than freezing prices, according to a survey by the Pulzus institute, commissioned by business news website Napi.

The government set a maximum price for fuel of Ft 480 per litre for three months from November 15.

Every market actor expects the cabinet to extend the price freeze, as otherwise the price would rise above Ft 510, just a few weeks before the elections.

The survey found that 26% of respondents agree with the present form of price freeze, 63% propose a cut in taxes and 14% would prefer that subsidies or possibly a preferential coupon be given to those in need.
