Volánbusz Fleet Adding 164 New Natural Gas Buses
A total of 164 new compressed natural gas (CNG) buses will expand the Volánbusz fleet this year, 39 of which will be operational in Zalaegerszeg (215 km southwest of Budapest) this fall, according to profitline.hu.

In the summer of 2021, Volánbusz issued a public procurement to purchase 164 new buses running on CNG, which resulted in the purchase of the vehicles from MAN Kamion és Busz Kereskedelmi Kft.

The new buses are powered by a Euro 6 CNG engine, in which compressing the natural gas results in lower CO2 and soot emissions compared to conventional fuels.

The vehicles have 35 seats and can accommodate a total of 93 passengers and are barrier-free.

The net purchase value of the 39 new buses serving the suburban lines of Zalaegerszeg is HUF 3.58 billion.
