Russia Banned From Swimming Competition Held in Budapest
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) decided on Wednesday to ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from all competitions, including the World Championships to be held in Budapest in June.

Germany and Switzerland had threatened to boycott the event if Russia was allowed to compete.

The international federation is looking for a new venue for the short course world cup, which was to take place in Kazan in December.

FINA has once again expressed its strongest condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and is trying to help Ukrainian swimmers, divers and synchronised swimmers.

The organisation also said it was launching an investigation into Olympic champion Yevgeny Rilov for attending a pro-war rally at the Luzhniki Stadium, where President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech.
