Auchan Hungary to Discontinue Plastic Roll Bags
Auchan Hungary will stop using plastic bags in its fruit, vegetable and bakery departments from April 19, the subsidiary of the French retail chain said.

These bags are used only once, the chain argued, and do not decompose for 200 years, thereby placing an extreme burden on the environment.

According to the company, the food industry and the retail sector also have responsibility and may have an attitude-forming effect on the development of environmental awareness.

Instead of plastic roll bags, the fruit and vegetable department will offer reusable bags that can hold up to six products at a time, as well as washable bags and environmentally friendly biodegradable bags made entirely from compostable materials.

For bakery products, washable, reusable organic cotton and paper bags will be available.
