Somogy county police press officer Iván Zsolt Batta said no circumstance suggesting a misdemeanour or criminal act arose in the case. However, Siófok police are investigating the incident.

Organiser the Sziget Kulturális Menedzser Iroda said in a statement, citing eyewitnesses, that the man climbed on to one of the gondolas of the Ferris wheel on his own and then climbed across a narrow hole above the high protective barrier and fell from there.

“No preliminary move hinted at his act, the events took place in moments and there was no way to prevent the accident”, the statement added.
