Budapest's Chain Bridge Reopen - But Not to Cars or Pedestrians Yet
Public transportation buses, taxis, cyclists and motorcyclists – but not pedestrians – can start to use the Chain Bridge from Friday afternoon, the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) announced.

The bridge will be open to pedestrians in the autumn of 2023, once the final phase of the renovation is completed.

The city will decide next summer whether to allow private cars back onto the bridge.

The renovation will continue with the completion of the sidewalks and the underpasses in the bridgeheads, as well as the reconstruction of the historical elements.

The renovation of the Chain Bridge started in the spring of 2021.
