Speculation About New EV Battery Factory in Hungary by Danube
The government has declared the expansion of the industrial park in Komárom to be a matter of special importance from the point of view of the national economy, leading many to suspect that the government is preparing the way for a new EV battery manufacturing plant.

A draft decree posted on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade website in mid-January for public consultation did not specify what type of plant may be built in the area.

The reason why most people suspect a battery factory is in the works is that the construction of the main pipeline designed to transport up to 10,000 cubic metres of water per day, which would bring karst water from the Tata area to Komárom, started in 2022.

This development meets the increased demand for water from existing factories, but may simply provide free capacities, Portfolio writes, adding, however, that this is all speculation.
