Record Number of Visitors to Budapest Recently
A series of programmes to commemorate the August 20 Hungarian national holiday celebrating Hungary’s statehood attracted a record number of visitors to the capital, the organisers told MTI.

Visitors to Budapest had a choice of over 100 programmes at more than 20 venues over three days.

The celebrations culminated in a fireworks, light and drone display in the evening on Sunday.

The “complex visual show” included 34,000 fireworks lighting up the sky from 230 launch points and a light show using more than 1,100 intelligent lights, 61 high-performance laser projectors and another 34 laser devises, they noted.

Public television’s broadcast of the fireworks show also generated record ratings, they said.

Visitor numbers gave a “significant” boost to tourism in the capital as well as to the turnover of tens of thousands of businesses, the organisers said.
