Watch: Hungary Ready for Euro's After Three Goal Victory
Marco Rossi's team completed their preparations for the European Championship in Germany in encouraging style by easing to a 3-0 win over visitors Israel in Debrecen, Barnabás Varga striking twice midway through the first half after fellow forward Roland Sallai had opened the scoring.

Rossi made three changes to the starting lineup from the 2-1 loss away against Republic of Ireland last Tuesday, Bendegúz Bolla, Attila Szalai and Callum Styles replacing Loic Nego, Márton Dárdai and András Schäfer.

Hungary were on the attack from the outset, Varga seeing his effort cannon off the crossbar after a right-wing corner in just the sixth minute.

Five minutes later and Varga turned provider as Hungary opened the scoring, Bolla's cross from the right headed back across goal by Varga for the arriving Sallai to flick the ball into the net with his ankle for his 13th international goal in 49 appearances.

Varga's dream first half continued when he swept home Bolla's cross from close range to double Hungary's advantage in the 20th minute and three minutes later, the Ferencváros striker doubled his own personal goal tally in the game when he arrived at the perfect moment to convert another cross, this time a header from Sallai's ball into the penalty area.

Israel then reorganised their backline and made several changes which succeeded in making them more stable and enabling them to make the game a far more even affair thereafter.

There were to be few moments of danger from either side though and no more additions to the scoreline, Hungary sealing a morale-boosting success which will leave everyone associated with the team in confident mood ahead of their Euro 2024 opener with Switzerland on 15th June.

Hungary 3–0 Israel (HT: 3–0)
Hungary: Gulácsi – Lang (Fiola, 46), Orbán, Szalai A. – Bolla, Nagy Á., Styles (Kleinheisler, 41), Kerkez (Nagy Zs., 78) – Sallai (Gazdag, 46), Szoboszlai (Csoboth, 57) – Varga B. (Ádám, 57)
Israel: O. Glazer – Dasza, Hofmajszter (Szafuri, 30), Slomo, Arad (Nahmiasz, 30), Gruper – Samir (Gordana, 30), Lavi, Kinda (E. Perec, 46) – Biton (Altman, 90+1), Baribo (Melamed, 68)
Goalscorers: Sallai (11), Varga B. (19, 22)

Rossi: Everything came together in the first half

Marco Rossi was satisfied with the overall performance of his team in the Nagyerdei stadion but added that the level of their game dropped in the second half, so in this respect there is still room for progress before the European Championship starts.

"We started the match really well today; we were motivated and we played in an extremely inspiring environment," Rossi explained after the match. "The first half went very well and everything came together in attack, but in the second half, after the substitutions, our routines were more difficult to execute.

It's difficult to replace Salla and Szoboszlai, and this is partly why the quality of our game dropped. Even then, we had some good attacking moves, but in many respects we still have to make progress before our first match of the European Championship.

Overall, we can be satisfied with this game and now the most important thing is to regenerate properly over the next two days and for the players with minor injuries to recover for the next stage of preparations in Germany.
