Spar & Tesco Seriously Downsized Staff in Hungary

The website found that the number of employees at Spar dropped by 408 in May to 13,642, while Tesco’s payroll shrank by 286 fewer, dropping to a total of 9,672 employees.
However, Lidl increased its staff by 143 to above 9,000.
There were only minor changes in staff numbers at car manufacturers.
Audi Hungaria saw a reduction of 88 employees, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary had 80 fewer employees, and Magyar Suzuki shrank its staff by 10 employees.
These figures do not include temporary workers, who are hired from labour leasing companies and are significant in the Hungarian automotive industry, website 24 adds.
