Good Quality Tobacco Crop Expected in Hungary by ULT
The local unit of Universal Leaf Tobacco (ULT) expects the quality of this year's tobacco crop to be "slightly" lower than last year's, but still good, ULT Magyarország's agronomics director told MTI.

Tibor Fekete said ULT expected to buy over 2,000 tonnes of Virginia tobacco and close to 400 tonnes of Burley tobacco this season. The harvest is expected to finish by the end of September, he added.

Agribusiness FK 2000 has completed a HUF 276m grain store investment in Felsopahok (W Hungary), the company told MTI.

FK 2000 was awarded a HUF 138m European Union and state grant for the project.

FK 2000 grows wheat, maize and sunflower on an area of more than 250 hectares. Earlier, because of a lack of storage capacity, it sold 60-70pc of its crop immediately after the harvest.

The company had net sales revenue of HUF 162m in 2023, public records show.
