Magyar Posta Restructuring in Hungary A 'Success'
Hungary's state-owned postal company, Magyar Posta, has undergone a successful restructuring that has transformed it into a well-functioning, self-sustaining public service provider that can also hold its own on foreign markets, chairman-CEO Barnabas Balczo said at a vehicle handover.

Speaking at Magyar Posta's logistics base in Fot, on the outskirts of the capital, Balczo said the company was expanding its fleet with 50 new Volkswagen Caddy LCVs from importer Porsche Hungaria. Magyar Posta plans to purchase another 100 Volkswagen Crafter models in November and put them into service ahead of the peak holiday delivery season, he added.

Magyar Posta expects to deliver 35m packages in 2024, an increase of around 10m in two years, he said.

Magyar Posta has around 850 partners -- businesses and local council institutions that provide postal services -- and some 3,500 parcel terminals, he added.

Porsche Hungaria managing director Brigitte Auernigg said the company had delivered over 6,000 vehicles to Magyar Posta since 1991. Porsche Hungaria controls around 20pc of Hungary's new car market, she added.
