Fox Brothers & Co. is a historic British textile manufacturer famous for its fine wool fabrics, particularly flannel. Founded in 1772 in Wellington, Somerset, the company has built a global reputation for high-quality woolen cloth, playing a vital role in British tailoring. Credited with popularizing flannel in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Fox Brothers became the go-to choice for tailors crafting everything from military uniforms to classic suits. 

Today, Fox Brothers fabrics are highly sought after by bespoke tailors and high-end designers, including those on Savile Row. 

The company has numerous intriguing highlights, such as producing an astounding 260 miles of flannel daily by the early 20th century. Notable connections include Winston Churchill, rumored to have favored suits tailored from Fox Brothers fabrics, and iconic actors like Cary Grant and Steve McQueen, who wore garments crafted from their textiles.

Holland & Sherry is another prestigious British fabric manufacturer creating luxury cloth since 1836. Renowned for its high-quality materials, the company caters to some of the world’s finest tailors, fashion houses, and interior designers. Founded by Stephen George Holland and Frederick Sherry in London, the brand quickly earned acclaim for its exceptional woolen and silk fabrics. 

Boasting a heritage of over 180 years, Holland & Sherry is recognized as a pioneer in superfine wool production, offering grades from Super 100s to Super 250s. Their royal connections and prestigious status were further enhanced in 2012 when they set a Guinness World Record for producing one of the world’s most expensive fabrics, made from rare vicuña and guanaco fibers.
