Going Underground: March to Mark Month of Caves in Hungary
Several programmes including a night watch of bats, "extreme tours" of caves in the night and travelling back in time to explore the stone age will be offered to the public in March, marking the month of caves, the Active and Ecotourism Development Centre said.

This year, visitors will have the opportunity to explore caves and sites that are otherwise closed to the public, the centre said in a statement. Programmes also include tours led by experts revealing "secret spots in caves", photo tours, interactive activities and night tours when visitors use only their headlights, it said.

In Budapest's Palvolgyi Cave, presentations will be held to the public about bats and the role they play in the ecosystem.

In the Szemlo Caves, public lectures will be organised about how the experts had discovered, accessed and explored the cave, one of the visitors' favourite sites.

Tours will also be held at the revamped Loczy Cave north of Lake Balaton, as well "hidden caves" and archaeology sites in the region.
