Revealed: How Many Hungarians Plan a Summer Holiday Abroad, to Where & More

Around 36pc of Hungarians are planning to vacation abroad in the summer, a representative survey by Visa shows.

Hungarians plan to spend about HUF 300,000/person on vacations abroad, around HUF 40,000 less than the average for Central and Eastern Europe, Bence Sarmay, Visa's head in Hungary, said presenting the survey results with MBH Bank.

The most popular summer holiday destinations for Hungarians remain Croatia, Italy, Spain, Austria and Greece, he added.

Csaba Soos, MBH Bank's retail business development manager, said the lender's own survey showed that the average household spent HUF 410,000 on a domestic vacation and HUF 760,000 on a holiday abroad.
