Microsoft to Teach Hungarian Words to Its AI, Following GVH Probe
Microsoft is adopting a commitment package and will be developing its own AI-based systems using 10 billion Hungarian words, Hungary's Competition Office (GVH) told MTI.

GVH launched a probe of Microsoft's European service provider in July 2023 to determine whether the company complied with consumer protection rules when offering its AI-based search engine services to Hungarians.

In the probe GVH determined neither a rule infringement nor its absence, in part because of changes in Microsoft’s practices and expanded consumer knowledge, however the company adopted a complex commitment package.

Microsoft will integrate its database containing at least 10 billion Hungarian words into its artificial intelligence-based systems. It will make the dataset available to other systems, so other developers can use it to train their Hungarian-language AI systems. It will also organise AI training courses for Hungarian civil servants, SMEs, and consumers.

GVH noted that OpenAI's ChatGPT system was taught using approximately 120-130 million Hungarian words.
