Why Close Cooperation with Canada 'in Hungary's Strategic Interest'

It is in Hungary's strategic interest for ties with Canada to be as close as possible, Levente Magyar, the foreign ministry's state secretary, said in Toronto, noting that Canada, the world's second largest country, has "vast reserves of untapped natural reserves and potential for energy production".
Canada, Ontario especially, is a "key partner", a ministry statement quoted Magyar as saying said after his talks with Stephen Lecce, Ontario's minister of energy and mining, and other officials.
The talks focused on opportunities to intensify energy cooperation, especially when it comes to nuclear technologies, he said, noting that the Canadians have developed "unique innovative technologies".
He said nuclear energy was of crucial importance to Hungary in the future and Canadian technologies in this area were "remarkable".
Hungary and Canada will continue their talks concerning actual projects in future, the state secretary added.
