Young Families Club Campaigns to Open Pests Lower Embankment & Chain Bridge For Public Use
The Young Families Club (Ficsak) has launched an online petition to reopen two important routes in Budapest - the Lower Pest Embankment and the Chain Bridge - to car traffic.

In their statement sent to MTI on Monday, they write: poorly organized, simultaneous renovations, uncoordinated restrictions and unnecessary closures are reinforcing each other and paralyzing the city, and in recent weeks, Budapest's transport has completely collapsed.

As they write: while a significant part of the city is stuck in traffic jams, the lower quay and the Chain Bridge are completely empty; in the summer heat, obviously no one wants to walk or picnic on the hot concrete. Despite this, the mayor is treating the closure of the quay as if it were Budapest's most important achievement, they highlighted.

They believe that the quay is not a place for leisure activities, but one of the city's key transportation routes, and its closure is unjustified and has serious consequences.

According to the organization, the traffic situation would be greatly improved if the Chain Bridge were also opened to car traffic.

According to Ficsak, it is unacceptable that the capital's traffic organization ignores the considerations of families.

They are asking that the quay be opened to motorists at least on weekdays and that vehicle passage be ensured across the Chain Bridge.
