Travel Time Between Budapest Airport & City Increases Due to Refurb of M4
Between 7 and 24 July, Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Zrt. will carry out scheduled refurbishment works on the Vecsés junction section of the M4 semi-motorway in multiple phases. Although Ferenc Liszt International Airport is not directly affected, travel times are expected to significantly increase to and from the airport.

The refurbishment only concerns public road sections, the works do not fall under the scope of authority of Budapest Airport. The airport operator advises passengers to exercise caution when accessing the airport during the affected period and allow for at least one hour of extra travel time in order to reach their flights safely.

As the first phase of the three-phase refurbishment, one lane will remain open towards Budapest and two lanes will be accessible towards the airport at the end junction of the M4 semi-motorway and main road 4 between 7 and 11 July.

The works will be carried out on weekdays, no traffic restrictions will be in place at the affected section and junction during weekends.

The refurbishment only affects public road sections, the works do not fall under the scope of authority of Budapest Airport, so please contact Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Zrt. directly with any questions or consult their website (in Hungarian): Refurbishment – Hungarian Concession Infrastructure Development Zrt.

Closures and working hours may vary depending on weather conditions, logistical arrangements and other external circumstances.

The operation of bus line 200E and Volán coaches will change as follows:

Between Ferenc Liszt International Airport and Budapest:

During the entire period of the refurbishment works, buses travelling towards the city center will stop at a temporary bus stop about 100 meters from the Vecsés-West stop.
