Israeli Arrested After Knife Attack at Music Festival in Hungary
- 4 Aug 2025 10:02 AM
Police received an alert on Saturday from security guards who reported that a man was stabbed at the Ozora Festival, which describes itself as a music, dance and arts event, in Igar-Vamszolohegy.
The victim was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, while the suspect also sustained injuries. He was arrested and taken to hospital before being detained.
Fejer County police have charged the Israeli for assault and endangering a life, police.hu said.
Earlier, on 25 July, a fire broke out at the festival when several gas canisters exploded. Witnesses reported the blaze started at a food kiosk selling Asian cuisine near the main stage.
Visitors believe the fire ignited after a gas canister overheated, catching nearby cooking oil on fire.
Attempts to contain the flames using fire extinguishers worsened the situation, leading to rapid fire spread and a series of loud explosions as propane-butane cylinders blew up in succession.
The inferno fully engulfed the kiosk and spread to three vehicles, two trailers, and several tents. Some witnesses claimed a gas pipe may have cracked during the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Ozora Festival is one of the world’s most renowned psychedelic music and spiritual gatherings, attracting tens of thousands of attendees to Hungary each year.
