'Cavalcade' of Events to Mark European Mobility Week in Budapest
The largest transport and environmental protection campaign in Europe will be held from Sept 16 to 22, with a "cavalcade" of events marking European Mobility Week in Budapest, the city's public transport company BKK said on Wednesday.

The festival's programmes will culminate in a car-free weekend of Sept 20-21, BKK said.

This year's events taking place for the 24th time under the motto "Mobility for everyone" will focus on the importance of the responsible choice of vehicles, the "impact of car traffic on the environment, in accidents and on the cityscape, highlighting the advantages of sustainable transport and the need to develop public transport, cycling and walking" infrastructure, the statement said.

Organisers are expecting thousands of visitors over the weekend at events held on the closed-off section of Karoly Boulevard and Szabadsag Bridge, and the Danube Embankment on the Pest side.

* Take a closer look at Budapest's most modern tram, the CAF tram, which will also be operating in Hűvösvölgy from September.

* Experience steampunk culture on Saturday on the 611 wooden tram
