Danube Views: New Boutique Hotel & Lounge Opens in Budapest by Chain Bridge
- 17 Sep 2025 11:54 AM
The Leon Hotel & Lounge opened in direct proximity to the Buda Castle, Gellért Hill, and the Danube. The 48-room property positions itself as a boutique option with a mix of historic references and contemporary design.
The site has deep historical ties: in the 19th century it was part of the palace row on the Buda riverbank, including Count Béla Széchenyi’s palace designed by architect Miklós Ybl. While the palace and adjoining stables were destroyed during World War II, the new development references the location’s past in its branding.
Spread across seven floors, Leon offers hillside and riverside view rooms, with the top floor reserved for three studios featuring private terraces and freestanding bathtubs. The design leans on natural materials and neutral tones aimed at the upscale city-break and business travel segments.
Beyond accommodation, the hotel includes a ground-floor lounge and a first-floor conference room with direct access to an inner courtyard. The meeting space is designed for both corporate and private events, offering natural light and flexible layout options.
With its proximity to the Danube and central landmarks, the property seeks to capture demand from international tourists and business travelers looking for smaller-scale alternatives to Budapest’s larger chain hotels.
