Free Open-Air Classic Films with Musical Accompaniments in Budapest , 16 - 21 September
The Budapest Classics Film Marathon between Sept 16 and 21 will offer open-air, free screenings as well as concerts, the National Film Institute (NFI) said.

Each evening, a popular film will be featured on a giant screen in front of St Stephen's Basilica.

Also, the French Institute will host two films with live piano accompaniment played by Ferenc Darvas, a documentary on Sao Paulo from 1929, screened on Sept 17, and one entitled Travels on Water and in the Air in Central Europe, a 1910 production on Budapest and the Wachau valley, on Sept 18.

The Budapest Music Centre will screen The Voice of Silence, a series of silent films produced between 1906 and 1920, screened with a musical accompaniment by Kornél Fekete-Kovacs, Laszlo Goz, Marton Fenyvesi and Andras Des. It will also be screened at the French Institute on Sept 21, with Darvas's accompaniment.

The festival will also feature 26 closed screenings for children and screenings of cartoons.
