Home Start to Boost Home Builds in Hungary
A state-subsidised credit scheme for first-time home buyers could boost orders for new homes by 10,000 in 2025 and lift the number of home builds to 25,000 in 2026, the head of construction industry association EVOSZ said on public radio on Sunday.

Laszlo Koji told Kossuth Radio that new home builds could reach an annual 30,000-35,000 by 2027, the number required to replenish Hungary's aging housing stock.

He noted that just 12,000-13,000 homes would be handed over in 2025.

He said the Home Start Programme, offering 3pc fixed-rate loans, could generate orders with a value of HUF 800bn for the construction industry, boosting full-time headcount, too.

The Home Start scheme launches today, Monday 1 September.
