'World Cat Show' in Budapest, 27 - 28 September
After ten years, on Saturday and Sunday this international cat event will be held again in Budapest, at the Angyalföldi Sports Center.

Twenty-two countries will be represented at the event and the audience will be able to get to know more than twenty-five cat breeds.

The main theme of the event is to present the difference between breeders and breeders, and to raise awareness of responsible animal husbandry. The program includes competitions, presentations, and children's programs.

At the stands, interested parties can learn about different cat breeds, and breed rescue associations will provide visitors with useful cat information.

Péter Tóth, the event's main organizer, told MTI that the ragdoll cat from Russia, which is the current first place winner of the best cat competition, i.e. the one that scored the most points at this year's cat shows, will also be presented in Budapest. Its French owners have also entered the second place winner of the points competition, a Canadian sphinx, so the world show will be truly special.

Among the special breeds, the public can see, among others, Toyger and Tonkinese cats, and among the hairless breeds, in addition to the Canadian, the Don Sphynx.

He added that the Singaporean cat, known as the smallest breed in the world, will be on display, but the Burmese sacred temple cat and several forest cat breeds, such as the Norwegian and Siberian, will also be competing.

Among the dwarf cat breeds, the munchkin, or dachshund, will be on display at the world exhibition. In addition, the so-called rex, or curly-haired breeds, the Cornish rex, Devon rex and Selkirk rex cats, as well as the Transylvanian breed, which is currently being accepted, will also be presented to the public.

In addition to rare and lesser-known breeds, popular cats - such as the Maine Coon, the Bengal and the British Shorthair - will also be present in Budapest in large numbers.

Cat Olympics coming to Hungary?

Péter Tóth noted that the world cat show is the second most prestigious event in the cat world, surpassed only by the "cat Olympics ." According to plans, such an event could be held for the first time in Hungary in 2027.
