Record Low Level of Jobseekers in Hungary

Sandor Czomba said European Union-supported programmes had helped over 60,000 jobseekers find work.
Official Hungarian labour-market figures:
* According to the National Employment Service (Nemzeti Foglalkoztatási Szolgálat, NFSZ), the number of registered jobseekers in Hungary in December 2025 was 216,082 — the lowest December figure since the end of communism. This represents a decline of almost 4,000 compared to December 2024 and a reduction of roughly 375,000 since 2010.
* Alongside this fall in registered jobseekers, Hungary’s unemployment rate improved from about 4.7 % to 4.4 % over the past year, keeping the country among the EU’s top performers for low unemployment and high employment.
Programmes supporting jobseekers
Government and EU-backed initiatives have played a role in helping people find work. According to Magyar Nemzet, such programmes have helped around 60,000 registered jobseekers secure employment — close to the figure you cited — by offering incentives and support to both jobseekers and employers.
Other official data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows that in the December–February 2024/25 period, the number of unemployed persons (which is defined differently from the administrative jobseeker register) was around 214,000 with a 4.4 % unemployment rate.
These figures align with the trend of very low unemployment at the end of 2025.
