Electric Shock Risk Forces IKEA to Recall NYMÅNE Lamps in Hungary
Ikea has recalled certain Nymåne wall and reading lamps after identifying a potential electric shock hazard caused by a manufacturing defect, the furniture retailer said.

According to Ikea, the insulation of the cable in the affected products may be insufficient, creating a risk of electric shock if the cable becomes damaged. Customers who own the recalled lamps are being urged to stop using them immediately and contact Ikea for a full refund.

The recall affects the Nymåne wall/reading lamp in white (article number 203.569.09), the Nymåne wall/reading lamp in anthracite (article number 504.152.24), and the Nymåne double wall lamp in white (article number 204.286.47).

Only lamps with date stamps between 2217 and 2550 and supplier number 23241 are included in the recall. Products manufactured outside this date range or supplied by other manufacturers are not affected, Ikea said.

Ikea said the date stamp and supplier number can be found on a sticker inside the lamp shade of the single wall and reading lamps, while for the double wall lamp the information is located on stickers on the back of the fixture. Customers are advised to always unplug the lamp from the power outlet before handling it.

Affected products can be returned to any Ikea store for a full refund, with no receipt or proof of purchase required. Additional information is available on Ikea’s website or via its customer service line.

Ikea apologized for any inconvenience caused by the recall and encouraged customers to share the information, particularly if the recalled products have been sold, loaned or given to others.
