International Zayed Charity Run to Make European Debut in Budapest
Budapest will host the European debut of the Zayed Charity Run on 16–17 May 2026, bringing one of the UAE’s best-known charitable sporting events to the Hungarian capital for the first time.

Held over two days in and around Városliget, the event combines running, family programmes and fundraising, with races designed for all ages and

Founded more than 25 years ago in honour of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, the charity run has previously taken place in cities including Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Abu Dhabi, Cairo and Miami. Budapest will serve as the final stop of the 2025–26 international series, and the only European host city.

Organisers say all proceeds from registration fees will go directly to charitable organisations across Hungary at both municipal and county level.

Family-Friendly Opening Day in Városliget

The weekend begins on Saturday, 16 May, with a dedicated family programme in Városliget.

A 1 km Children’s Run starts at 11 am for participants under the age of 10, featuring obstacle elements and prize money for the top 10 finishers.

Later in the afternoon, families can take part in the Family Run, where teams consisting of at least one adult and one child or grandchild must complete the course together. Entry covers the entire team, and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishing families.

Scenic City-Centre Race Routes

Sunday, 17 May, focuses on the main running events, including 3 km, 5 km and 10 km races.

The 10 km race is expected to be the highlight of the weekend, starting and finishing at Heroes' Square. The route takes runners along Andrássy Avenue, across the Széchenyi Chain Bridge and beside the Danube, passing some of Budapest’s best-known landmarks before returning to the finish line.

Prize money will be awarded across all race categories, with the winners of the men’s and women’s 10 km races each receiving 1 million HUF.

Additional Prizes and Charity Initiatives

Event sponsor Emirates will also offer two return flights to the UAE through a participant prize draw.

In addition, visitors using their race tickets at BalloonFly will trigger an extra charitable donation, with 20% of the ticket value going to Hungarian causes.
