Watch: Magyar Exposes Hungary’s HUF 100 Billion Luxury Ministry in Buda Castle
- 13 May 2026 4:34 PM
"We are talking about the building of the minister under whom our hospitals and child welfare institutions were ruined and our teachers were humiliated."
"Everyone is aware of the tragic state of our hospitals, as well as our social and child protection institutions -- now take a look at the conditions in which the politicians who made decisions about them spent their days," Magyar said in the Facebook video.
He said the building next to Matthias Church was rebuilt between 2018 and 2022, during the Covid years, as part of the Hauszmann Plan to revamp the Castle District.
Magyar added that the magnificent building that used to house the interior ministry, which stands on the Pest side next to Gresham Palace, had been sold to Arab investors for approximately 50 billion forints (EUR 140m). Then the minister of the interior was moved to the Castle District.
"This investment amounted to 70 billion forints net," he said, and showed in the video, among other things, the inner courtyard, the Lajos Kossuth conference room, the library, and the ceremonial hall.
Describing the tour of the building as having a "Ceausescu vibe", he said these had been hidden from the Hungarian people, and not a single photo had leaked out, even though "these buildings have been here for years".
