Now in its 14th year, the MOL Nagyon Balaton initiative continues to bring together many of the area's best-known events, highlighting the diversity of the lake's cultural scene.

This year's programme includes ten featured partner events, all of which are showcased in the newly released Best of Summer guide.

According to Turizmus.com, the events promoted through MOL Nagyon Balaton attracted nearly 800,000 paying visitors last year.

The initiative was launched in 2013 by Zoltán Fülöp and Norbert Lobenwein with the aim of presenting Lake Balaton as a destination recognised not only for its natural beauty but also for its cultural programme.

They say that vision remains unchanged more than a decade later, with dozens of internationally renowned performers, hundreds of Hungarian artists and a broad range of cultural events taking place around the lake throughout the summer.

The series of featured events begins with VeszprémFest, taking place from 15 to 18 July. This year's programme includes performances by Juanes, Beth Hart, Kraftwerk and Pink Martini.

At the same time, the city centre will once again host the free Rosé, Riesling and Jazz Days concerts.

Electronic music fans can look forward to B my Lake, which has been held on the shores of nearby Lake Velence since last year.

Running from 16 to 18 July, the festival will welcome internationally recognised DJs and producers including Adam Beyer, Deborah De Luca, Paul Kalkbrenner and Sven Väth, bringing leading names from the techno and house music scene to Hungary.

From 24 July until 2 August, the Valley of the Arts (Művészetek Völgye) returns with its traditional mix of concerts, theatre performances, literary events, exhibitions and gastronomy.

This year's programme ranges from Hungarian acts including Beton.Hof and Zorán to a special appearance by Swedish singer-songwriter José González.

Jazzpiknik will take place in the Balaton village of Paloznak from 6 to 8 August, combining jazz, soul, funk and pop performances with the atmosphere of the Balaton wine region.

The international lineup includes Rick Astley, Gregory Porter, Matt Bianco and the Earth, Wind & Fire Experience.

The festival season around Lake Balaton concludes with Strand Festival in Zamárdi between 19 and 23 August.

International performers including Timmy Trumpet, Robin Schulz, Pendulum and Purple Disco Machine will appear alongside some of Hungary's best-known artists, among them Azahriah, Halott Pénz, Majka and Valmar.

In the final week of August, Alsóörs will host the Tábor Festival, one of Hungary's leading events for rock and metal fans. The programme features legendary bands together with prominent contemporary performers from the genre.

The region's cultural programme extends well beyond its major festivals. Throughout the summer, concert venues and cultural centres around Lake Balaton continue to host live music, theatre performances and a variety of community events.

Among the venues offering programmes during the season are Plázs Siófok, Peter's Terasz in Balatonakarattya, Gyárkert KultúrPark in Veszprém and Kultkikötő.

Together, the participating festivals and venues aim to provide a broad selection of experiences for visitors of all ages, combining international concerts, Hungarian cultural events, gastronomy and opportunities to enjoy one of the country's most popular summer destinations.
