For the last 5 years I am living in Budapest with my Hungarian wife. I have 2 kids, Katalin and Samuel.
We have a video production company - Netwave Films Europe. We produce instructional, promotional and corporate videos for the web and television. Our website is: www.nwavefilms.com
1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I married a Hungarian girl whom I met in Jerusalem almost 6 years ago.. She was on a research scholarship and later was working as a volunteer at an organisation that is helping victims of war and terrorism in Israel. I was good friends with the director of that charity and I used to make them videos and short documentaries about victims. We have established a film company here in Budapest, Netwave Films Europe Ltd, and we are filming for companies, charities and have lots of projects that involve video on the internet. You can see some of our productions at www.nwavefilms.com
2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
I have been moving quite a lot in the world since my childhood. I was born in St. Petersburg and at the age of 6 my parents emigrated to Israel. I returned to St. Petersburg for my film studies and to soak up the cultural atmosphere there. After I married I moved to the UK, then Hungary. I was also visiting Canada for a longer period and I established a film company with a Canadian partner.
3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
The language. I remember having read „távműködtetésű ajtó” on the metro and I could not believe my eyes that such a difficult word can exist.
4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
They should absolutely visit the castle district and I would also recommend them to visit one of the thermal baths.
