XpatLoop Interview: Shinsuke Yokochi, Purchasing Director, Comgame 576
I studied finance at Seton Hall University in New Jersey USA.

After graduate from university, I go back to japan and work for an interbank money broker, Tullet Tokyo

Then move to Hungary and work for OTP Bank, ABN AMRO bank and K&H bank as a trader

Last 9 years I worked in a Japanese converting company, Nissho as Production manager, Production planning, Purchasing and Logistics.

A month ago I joined to Comgame „576” as purchasing director.

1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?

I came here first in 1993 to visit my wife’s family and I liked it here so I moved to Budapest in 1995 and started a new job and a family at the same time since my daughter was born that year.

2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Not really, although I do not consider myself an expat. I speak Hungarian and I feel local.

3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
I was working as a broker before coming here in Tokyo so I find everyone here being “laza”. Lifestyle was better than it was in Japan. My wife got pregnant so that also contributed to my decision.

4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Budapest night view. Walk around sit in a café, see the relaxed life of Budapest, enjoy the lifestyle of a local.

5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Szegedi halászlé (fish soup)

6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Beer, Czech Staropramen, soya sauce and some herbs.

7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Meglátjuk (we’ll see)

8. What do you miss the most from home?
The variety of Japanese food at an affordable price and fresh fish

9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
I really like my current job, so if I can pursue this on the long-term, I am happy.

10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
No specifics to that since I like to work, if needed, to work hard but I do want to utilize my knowledge.

11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
I was in Japan, Tokyo

12. Where do you hope to spend your next one?
Austria, it is close and I love nature. I do snowboard, hiking, and biking.

13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Film: Ghost Busters – it was when I was 17 and visited the U.S.
Band: I liked hard rock like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Rainbow.
Hobby: sports like judo, and I did a lot of skateboarding.

14. Apart of temptation what can't you resist?
“Let’s go for a drink!” invitation.

15. Red wine or white?
Red

16. Book or movie?
Book – recently I read The Flow by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi

17. Morning person or night person?
Morning

18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Nuclear issues - it’s wrong that everyone is “forgetting” about it these days but it can cause global contamination of fish and since water and fish go round – you never know… I love fish but these days I choose fish from the Mediterranean to be safe.

19. Buda side or Pest side?
Budapest is beautiful, Pest is for me the fun and socializing, Buda is to enjoy nature and relax there.

20. What would you say is your personal motto?
Enjoy your life.
