Imre Kiss, the founding head of the Palace of Arts, and the man responsible for creating the Budapest Spring Festival in 1981, died on Sunday at the age of 69 following a lengthy illness, the Palace of Arts announced. As founding director of the Spring Festival, Kiss reconnected Budapest to the cultural circulation of Europe and the world, and opened avenues for Hungarian and foreign artists.
