Hungary has joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as the documentation process had been finalized and the initial capital instalment had been transferred to the institution, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said, following the annual general meeting of the Beijing-based financial institution held in South-Korea.

The event was attended by over 250 students, parents, teachers and guests, including Dr Michael Ignatieff PC CM, President and Rector of CEU, and Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE (pictured below).

The government has decided to take further measures to help families, with an emphasis on helping mothers get a job and opening creches at workplaces, the human resources minister announced. Speaking at an event organised by the German Economic Club (DWC) in Budapest on Saturday evening, Zoltán Balog said the government would spend a total 6 billion forints (EUR 19.4m) on the creche programme.
