Guest nights in Hungary rose by 6.7% to 2,208,499 in September from the same month a year earlier, a release by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) showed. Guest nights spent by Hungarians increased by 5.8% to 919,314 and nights spent by foreign guests were up by 7.3% at 1,289,185. The tourism sector may this year reach record high figures, as the number of guests at accommodation establishments is expected to hit 10 million, the number of tourism nights and the amount of tourism revenues are to exceed 25 million and HUF 35bn, respectively, by the end of the year, Deputy State Secretary for Tourism Ádám Ruszinkó said at a press conference organized to mark World Tourism Day.
