Life expectancy at birth in Hungary has increased by 2.7 years during the past decade, similarly to the rest of the European Union, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). But both children and adults are in a worse physical condition, and the health-care system is more and more overburdened.

The number of marriages was up by nearly 10% to 4,247 in the period. The pace of the natural decline of the population slowed from 0.53% to 0.47% in January-March from the same period in 2013.
