Some 100kg of horse meat labelled as beef and imported from Hungary has been discovered in England, the British Food Standard Agency announced on Friday. It said 40kg of the shipment were sold in Liverpool and nearby Preston.

I helped offer a Christmas lunch to the least well-off in Budapest today. It was the best thing I’ve done since I arrived here. The Hungarian Interchurch Aid organisation ran the event, with support from local companies, and I went down with a small group from the Embassy to do what we could to contribute.

Fresh news is that The Caledonia must close on the 4th of March for two months, apparently NAV has just contacted the pub's owners saying they made an "administrative mistake" about the closing date of 3 January.
