The results of the 2025 Cake of Balaton contest have been revealed, with the top prize going to "Hableány" "Mermaid", a creation from Promenád Kávéház in Balatongyörök on the northern shore. The 12th Chimney Cake Festival will be held at the Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden, offering expats a sweet attraction filled with local tradition, live music and a variety of tastes to try. Known in Hungarian as Kürtőskalács, the beloved Chimney Cake is a local favourite made from spiral dough baked over charcoal, coated in sugar, and often rolled in toppings like cinnamon, walnut, and coconut.

After necessary renovations, a famous local entrepreneur will reopen the restaurant founded by Béla Kádár and then run by Sándor Orbán until its closure during the Covid era.
