The government is unlocking 150 billion forints (EUR 489m) for the procurement of 400-500 buses in the next few years, a government official said on Wednesday. Pál Völner, state secretary at the development ministry, told a conference that the emphasis of vehicle renewal would be placed on public transport by road since the rail network only reached 26% of the country’s cities and towns.

At the request of Skoda, the procurement arbitration court KDB has cancelled the trolley bus tender announced by the city of Budapest. The tender announcement for the purchase of 24 trolley buses specified emergency batteries only without extra diesel engines as an option.
