The Faculty of Humanities of ELTE was recently ranked for the eighth time again as the number one higher educational institute in Hungary. Since 2007, HVG have been publishing the rankings of each university and, according to Ministry figures, the Faculty of Humanities of ELTE University is in top position of the 70 institutes of higher education and 161 faculties in Hungary.

Thousands of university students blocked Budapest’s Elizabeth Bridge in a spontaneous demonstration on Wednesday as they protested against government cuts in funding for post-secondary education. It was part of a wave of protests that began on Monday and continued across the country on Wednesday.

A conference was held today at the Balassi Institute in Budapest on the experiences of teaching Hungarian language and culture. Speeches were also made at the event by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Administration and Justice Tibor Navracsics and Minister of State for Social Relations Zoltán Kovács.

"The Creation is something we need," writes András Batta of the piece, "we desire that someone shows us the beauty of the world once again, and imbues in us the feeling that it is good to live on this earth."
