I have been cycling up to Romai Part and Szentendre for years, and have always loved the four water and coal-clock towers at the old gas works. Luckily they have managed to survive (so far) the reconstruction of the old chemical works as an industrial park. In 1908 a municipal decision was made to replace several obsolete gas factories with a single new facility.

This world famous Grammy-award winning singer will join a walk for charity over the Chain Bridge in Budapest to support Breast Cancer Awareness. This annual event was launched back in 2002 by then US Ambassador to Hungary Nancy Goodman Brinker. The walk aims to promote early screening for breast cancer, which is one of Hungary's top causes of death for women.

With the hot weather finally here, I have been making the rounds of the new beer gardens. I tried Otkert (Zrinyi u. 4, 5th district) a few weeks ago at about 5pm. The place is done up nice, and conveniently located without being overpriced for its location. However, it was deserted except for one other person at the bar and after waiting 10 minutes at the bar we still could not even get the blond ...

"Between February 15 and April 23, four sections of the Embassy including Public Affairs, Office of Defense Cooperation, Commercial Section and USAID, participated in a Green Office competition which was organized by a Hungarian environmental NGO, KOVET. The Embassy offices were competing with 32 profit-oriented and non-profit organizations.
