I was intrigued to find out exactly what street food was on offer this weekend, in downtown Pest, at the historic Hold Street covered market hall. To my surprise, so were many more, who gravitated to this very popular occasion. Held in the elevated part of the market, you could meander around and take your pick at the many different foods and drinks on offer.

Portuguese firm QPR Investimentos signed a statement of intent on the sale of the former Ballet Institute on Andrássy út, to Swiss-registered Zara Invest, it was announced yesterday. If the two parties conclude a final deal, then Zara Invest will turn the building opposite the Opera House into a five-star hotel.

The minimum price for a taxi ride in the Hungarian capital is now HUF 450 according to a municipal decree effective yesterday. HUF 280 is now the price per kilometre, replacing the figure of max 240 forints applied since 1998.

Personnel recruitment firm First Job has won the Ft 80.2 million tender announced by Budapest Transport Centre, the European public procurement journal Tenders Electronic Daily reveals. The agency will supply 50 ticket inspectors for Budapest transport company BKV for an eight-month period.
