A commemoration was held to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Hungarian composer Béla Bartók (1881-1945) in the Budapest Farkasrét Cemetery on Friday. “We must continue to duly preserve and further promote Bartók’s legacy,” the human resources minister told MTI after the event.

Traditional food fans will like the 3rd 'Lamb Festival in Budapest' this weekend, where guests can taste all sorts of delicious Hungarian and international dishes, most made with lamb. There will also be cultural Easter events, concerts and workshops for kids, and on Easter Monday guests can check-out a cooking competition. Where? Vajdahunyad Castle, 1146 Budapest. When? Parlt Passes Law Establishing National Building Societies

Lawmakers approved a bill that establishes national building societies and adds to members’ savings with a state subsidy. The bill, submitted just a day earlier by Antal Rogán, the prime minister’s cabinet chief, was approved in an expedited procedure with 113 votes in favour, 46 against and no abstentions.

The local Macaron Day is inspired by the Jour du Macaron held on the same day in Paris (and the Macaron Day in New York City - see related video below), and will be held this year on 20 March at Akvárium, from 12-6 pm. Organisers told XpatLoop.com, "Visitors will have a chance to taste, smell and even learn how to bake the best macarons."

A total of 270 titles will compete to win prizes in six categories at the 2nd Hungarian Film Week beginning on Tuesday, the organisers said. The awarding ceremony for best feature-length, short, television, documentary, educational and animated film will be held on March 6.
