Bartók Béla Male Choir From Pécs Represents Hungary At Eurovision Choir Competition

The city of Pécs’s Bartók Béla male choir is to represent Hungary at the first Eurovision Choir Competition on Saturday in Riga. State secretary for culture Péter Hoppál told public television in an interview that Hungary is regarded as one of the great choir nations and “wherever a highly qualified Hungarian choir goes in the world, it always ends up at the top of the rankings”.

Nobody in the government has proposed withdrawing the contested higher-education law, János Lázár, the government office chief told a weekly news briefing. The EP resolution broaches the issue of the Central European University, he noted, adding that the government’s position is that everyone should be equal under the law and should abide by it.
