Annual Remembrance Ceremony, Solymár, 13 November

In 2016 the Annual Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday 13 November. The traditional service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Commonwealth War Cemetery of Solymár at 10:55. Everybody is welcome to attend the ecumenical service.

It’s been 150 years since Hungary’s very first zoo, the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden in the heart of the capital opened its gates to the public on August 9, 1866, writes hvg.hu. It was back at the end of the 18th century that the first public zoos were opened in Western Europe, the zoo in Vienna, for instance, began welcoming visitors in 1780.
Expat Church's Charitable Harvest Dinner, 28 October

St. Margaret’s Anglican Episcopal Church Budapest is having a fundraising Harvest Dinner at Menta Terasz Restaurant next Friday. The evening promises a special welcome drink and three menu choices, and will feature guest speaker Alex Faludy, grandson of the Hungarian poet and literary critic György Faludy, and the youngest graduate of Cambridge in the past 300 hundred years.
International Women's Club Budapest Clothes Drive

Low income families need all types of gently used clothing, particularly warm clothes and coats for cold weather, formal clothes (to attend job interviews), kids' clothing (they grow out of them so fast!), and shoes. It's really helpful if donated clothing is clean, reasonably wrinkle-free, or neatly folded.
India Donates $15,000 To Schools

Indian Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari donated $15,000 to two Hungarian schools yesterday. The Gandhi High School and Basic Degree Art School and the Dr. Ámbédkar High School, Vocational School, Special Vocational School and Primary School received the donation for helping to socially include Roma children.

The government has decided that the capital city’s new south-Buda superhospital should be built near Kelenföld railway station, government office chief János Lázár told a regular government news briefing. The new facility will have over 1,000 beds.
