Hungarian police have arrested ten members of a criminal organisation suspected of making and distributing psychoactive drugs, while one suspect has handed himself in. Officers of the Budapest police headquarters (BRFK) and anti-terror centre (TEK) arrested and detained the ten suspects in a combined raid of several sites in Budapest and Pest County.

There are 20,000 drug addicts in Hungary. But there are around 60,000 people dependent on tranquilisers or sleeping pills, said Gábor Zacher, the new head of Honvéd Hospital’s emergency unit.
