The smart, globe-trotting ambassador of French music Marc Minkowski will be our guest at three concerts of the Budapest Festival Orchestra in early November (2, 3 and 4 November). An outstanding conductor he has already been in Budapest, but this time he will be making music with Iván Fischer's ensemble for the first time, one of the world's most well-known and celebrated symphony orchestras.

With events like Samhainfest it is practically impossible to complain about the metal scene in Budapest. While assembling nine bands, Samhainfest brought together fans from all over Hungary, but the neighboring countries, too. The festival also meant one of the biggest gatherings of Hungarian folk metal bands, since more than half of them don't usually reside in Budapest.

It has become a tradition in the course of the Budapest music competitions to organize every fith year an international violin competition named after the world-famous Hungarian violinist József Szigeti. A peculiarity of the event to take place in September 2012 is that both young violinists and viola players are invited to the competition.
