Hungarian Opposition Slams Classification Of Paks Project

The opposition Democratic Coalition said the next government would have to lift the classification of data concerning the Paks nuclear plant. It is unclear whether the 30 years applies from the completion of the project or on the date when the contract is fulfilled, so in practice it could mean “sixty to a hundred years” from now, deputy leader László Varju said.

In line with CEU’s strategic sustainability goals, the U.S. Department of State’s Regional Environmental, Science & Technology, and Health (ESTH) Hub for Central and Eastern Europe has partnered with the University to provide a $30,000 grant to support a Sustainable University Network (SUN) of student environmental groups in Hungary.

The level of protection for high-quality Hungarian food must not be lowered, Sándor Fazekas, the agriculture minister, said in Brussels. Fazekas had talks with Phil Hogan, EU commissioner for farming, focusing on topical issues such as the Russian embargo, the common agriculture policy, as well as the US-EU free trade agreement, the farm minister said.
