This is the only human rights documentary film festival in Hungary, organized yearly since 2004. Verzio aims to promote open society, democratic values, rule-of-law, freedom of expression, political and cultural pluralism as well as to expose abuse and human rights violations throughout the world by presenting quality, creative documentaries.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Vice President of India Mohammad Hamid Ansari for talks in Budapest on Sunday. After the talks, Orbán said in a press statement that “Hungary needs investors like India”. He said Hungary is approaching full employment and the country has “exhausted its labour force”.

On Tuesday the Hungarian parliament passed a law regulating online gambling introduced only the previous day. The bill’s sponsors justified the extraordinary measure by claiming the measure was necessary to combat illegal online gambling. The government expects the modification to drive international on-line gambling operators out of the Hungarian market.

Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, has reached agreements with three American companies on investments that will create hundreds of jobs in Hungary during a visit to Washington. The minister told MTI that an agreement was reached with an American automotive industry supplier on a 15 billion forint (USD 53m) investment in western Hungary that will create 200 jobs.
